Directions
Soak one cup of chickpeas overnight and drain the water when you are ready to use. Next day, in a blender, add the chickpeas, half-chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and coriander. If you don’t have parsley, you may skip it. Now, for seasoning add salt, black pepper, cumin powder, coriander powder, chili powder, a pinch of baking soda, and a spoon or two full of all-purpose flour. Squeeze some lemon juice and blend it to get a finely ground mix.
Once the mix is ready, wet your hand and bind the mix to make a round ball-like shape. You can also use an icecream scooper to make the shape.
To fry this, take a pan, and pour enough oil to deep fry the falafel. Once the oil is hot, safely place the ball in the pan and fry it on medium-high heat. Fry it until the falafel turns golden brown. Once the falafel is ready, take it out of the pan and place it on a plate with a paper towel to drain the excess oil. Your falafel is ready to be served, you can serve it with hummus or tahini sauce.
